2025 Programme

Cork Fringe Festival is a new festival celebrating the weird, the wonderful, and the often under-represented in the Cork arts-scene. Using both conventional and unconventional venue spaces, Cork Fringe aims to present a multi-disciplinary arts festival that nurtures up and coming artists and arts professionals of all artistic disciplines in Cork, as well as internationally, to showcase and platform their craft.

Our Vision

To harness the immense artistic talent present in Cork while also encouraging Cork people to help support and shape new and developing artforms.

An immersive journey through Cork’s past, present, and future electronic music scene. Set in the Kino @kinoeventshouse, this experience blends live performance, visual art, and reactive lighting to transform the space into a living artwork.

Celebrating Cork’s vibrant creative community, the event features artists, digital media, and conversations with electronic music pioneers. Rooted in the city’s artistic legacy, it’s more than a performance—it’s a celebration of music’s power to connect, inspire, and evolve.

UCC Youth Theatre hosts Strands, a Short Play MiniFest as part of Cork Fringe. Three Cork based Youth Theatres (Activate, Lightbulb & UCC YT) will come together to share their work on short plays with each other and a public audience.

Plays will run from 2 minutes to 12 minutes covering a wide range of subjects and styles.

Written, directed and performed by Ciara Ní Tuathaigh @ciaramarianituathaigh, The Scent of a Mock Orange is a gritty proclamation of one girl’s reckoning with her life on the ten-year anniversary of her mother’s suicide. Without any regard for her own grief, Mara navigates the tumultuousness of her life in the wake of a very interesting realisation - it’s quite possible that she has become a sex addict.

IN A BAD WAY | Isolde Fenton

Grá is sick. With what, she’s not sure. But it’s there, absolutely. Definitely. Maybe. IN A BAD WAY is a darkly comic one-woman show about hypochondria.

Following a young woman named Grá waiting in a walk in GP’s office, this show is written and performed by Isolde Fenton and follows Grá’s panic about different symptoms and the respective moments in her life when she began experiencing them. IN A BAD WAY explores how anxiety can manifest into our physical health, and how debilitating that can be.

Happy Capital | Tommy Harris

Happy Capital is a one-man show that follows Mark (Tommy Harris), a hapless young man who lives with his forgetful grandfather and his shameless uncle Larry on the northside of Cork City. Despite Mark’s dead-end job and the general misgivings of everyone around him, he believes he’s found his golden ticket that will lead to fortune and fame – cryptocurrency – and he won’t let a little thing, like not knowing what it is or how it works, get in his way.

Northside / Southside is a comedic and heartfelt radio show that delves into the contrasting lives of two Cork natives—one who stayed, and one who left. Through lively banter, character-driven sketches, and traditional music, we explore the essence of ‘Homecoming’ and what it means to reconnect with one’s roots. It’s a celebration of Cork’s rich culture, humour, and the enduring bonds of friendship.

The River Lee is a magical place. Herons, seals, cormorants, tidal waterfalls and beaches exist alongside record shops, cafes, cargo ships and extensive traffic jams. The city is both encircled by the river and also revolves around it. On the walk from the Port of Cork on the east of the city, through the bustling city centre, and out to the leafy and wild Lee Fields we take a wander and chat to the locals to find out their favourite things about Cork in 2025.

Cork Fringe at The Everyman, Cork!

We are delighted to present the double billing of Happy Capital/IN A BAD WAY, featuring the immensely talented Tommy Harris and Isolde Fenton.

"Tommy Harris is a Cork-based actor and graduate of MTU's Theatre and Drama degree. His most recent theatre credit was portraying Johnny Boyle in The O'Casey Trilogy with Druid touring Ireland and the US. In addition to acting, Tommy wrote and performed in Happy Capital at last year's Dublin Fringe Festival, earning three award nominations, including Best New Writing.

Other notable theatre credits include Drama at Inish and Let the Right One In, both at the Abbey Theatre."

Isolde Fenton is an actor and writer from Limerick. She trained at the Gaiety School of Acting from 2019 – 2021, and then with the UK’s National Youth Theatre’s Rep Company from 2022 – 2023. Previous acting credits include Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, (Duke of York’s Theatre) Ophelia in Hamlet, (DLR Mill Theatre) and Peggy in Mortal Sin (Smock Alley Theatre; to be produced in Bewley’s Café Theatre later this year).

Her debut script, CHALK & CHEESE, won the PJ O’Connor Radio Play Award in 2024. The piece, directed by Gorretti Slavin, will premiere on RTE Drama On One this summer. She is currently the Artist in Residence in the Belltable Theatre in Limerick, where she will work on her third play. She was also included in the Irish Examiner’s Ones to Watch list for 2025.

The development of IN A BAD WAY was supported by Cork Theatre Collective’s Space To Think Bursary. The piece was subsequently chosen as part of CTC’s SHOW: A Work in Progress Event, which was produced in the Triskel Arts Centre in November 2024.

Have you been feeling like yourself lately?

A XEROX OF A DEER is a contemporary Irish play about an unlikely friendship on a country road between a deer and a farmer.

From non-binary writer @ceilbi_ (they/them) comes a sinister story of not feeling okay, and the complicated relationship you have with yourself. ‘We all go through a crisis of identity, and sometimes it can be painful and scary, and I wanted to write a story about the moments before the beauty, and the complexities of admitting you’re not yourself and you never were, and all of it has been one huge lie”.

Coming of Age (…at 30): A Musical Cabaret!

This one-woman show by Sarah Rose is a love letter to her younger self in her journey as a performer.

Through a selection of songs from Little Shop of Horrors, A Chorus Line, Jane Eyre and more, Sarah Rose is recounting the lessons she’s learnt about the business, life and herself in what she calls a musical journal entry. Because she’s not famous enough to call it a memoir.
